The government reaction was to not only raise the requirements for acceptance into the party, but to systematically revoke the status of the majority of the individuals within the cadre. However, throughout the interwar period the ranks of the upper class had swollen to nearly half the overall population, which was blamed on internal corruption and cronyism. Above them were the Ramohskna Dzenda, the so-called 'Cadre Centrale', which was a class comprised of the army officers and political commissars.Īdmission to the Cadre Centrale was based on perceived job productivity and party loyalty, with members rewarded with a higher living standard and greater opportunities for themselves and family members. The Strieki were almost entirely made up of Heartland's working class, the Rabosna. As a result prewar infantry formations usually consisted of a wide variety of experience, but were classified under the same banner - Strieki. Unlike its adversaries however Heartlandian political doctrine at the time forbade the separation of units based on level of training, effectively removing all formal distinction between these conscripts, and the professional men who stayed in the army after their mandatory service. Since the Revolution, Heartland required all able-bodied adult males, and some females within a smaller age range, to serve in the armed forces - in line with the other two major powers.
